Stampede at New Delhi Railway Station due to mismanagement and lack of infrastructure: Raghav Chadha

Chandigarh, February 16 . Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha has expressed grief over the stampede at New Delhi Railway Station on Saturday night. Talking to IANS, he said that the incident at New Delhi Railway Station is very sad. I pray to God to give place to the dead at his feet, give strength to their families to bear this grief. I wish speedy recovery to those who are injured.

MP Raghav Chadha said, “I had raised many issues related to railways while addressing the Rajya Sabha on February 11. I think I could not draw the attention of the Railway Minister to the issues raised by me. This incident happened due to mismanagement and lack of infrastructure, which is unfortunate.” He said, “Innocent people going to Prayagraj Mahakumbh have become victims of the mismanagement of the railways. They have made the system such that people are not feeling safe. I want to clearly say that there is not a single day when there is no news of an incident in the railways. I demand that the accountability and responsibility of the railways be fixed. Indian Railways should take strict steps so that such an incident does not happen.” Let us tell you that a stampede broke out on platform number 13 and 14 of New Delhi Railway Station late Saturday night when a rumor of cancellation of two trains going to Prayagraj allegedly spread among the passengers. 18 people were confirmed dead in this accident, many people were also injured in the accident, who are being treated. After the accident, the railways reduced the pressure of the crowd on the platform by arranging special trains. The railways have ordered a high-level inquiry into the incident. Apart from this, the railways has announced a compensation of Rs 10 lakh each to the families of the deceased, Rs 2.5 lakh to the seriously injured passengers and Rs 1 lakh to the minor injured passengers.
