New Delhi: Under Operation Sajag, a continuing drive of North-West District for containment of crime & criminals and to dominate the streets so as to reduce street crimes as well as to instill confidence & sense of security among citizens, 02 desperate snatchers arrested by staff of PS Mahendra Park .
Under this drive, alert patrolling staff and special pickets were deployed for intensive checking and during this exercise, a major breakthrough was achieved whereby staff of PS Mahendra Park nabbed 02 desperate snatchers and recovered a button actuated knife, 02 stolen/snatched mobile phones & one stolen motorcycle from their possession. Accused persons are habitual & active criminals, previously found involved in several cases of snatching, robbery & arms act.
On 21.03.22, when Ct Sushil and Ct Bhagat of PS Mahendra Park were performing patrolling duty in new subzi mandi Azadpur, they noticed two persons on a motorcycle coming towards them, who tried to change their route on seeing police staff. When staff signaled them to stop, they increased the speed of their bike and tried to dodge the police staff in order to flee away from the spot. However, the police staff acted swiftly and started chasing them & at a certain distance, they were able to nab them, by displaying keen sense of alertness & swift response. On enquiry, they were identified as Rahul s/o Avdesh r/o G Block Jhuggi, Dhobi Ghat, Jahangirpuri, Delhi (age 22 yrs) and Imran s/o Yashin r/o Village Bhadola, Delhi (age 22 yrs). During their cursory search, a button actuated knife, 02 mobile phones were recovered from their possession. On verification of recovered motorcycle no. DL8SCD4903, it was found stolen vide eFIR No. 004826/2022 u/s 379 IPC PS Burari.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 469/22 u/s 25/54/59 Arms Act was registered at PS Mahendra Park and investigation was taken up. Both the accused persons were arrested in this case and during investigation, they disclosed that they were roaming in the area & looking for easy targets to commit snatchings. Accused persons are habitual & active criminals, previously found involved in several cases of snatching, robbery & arms act.
Further efforts are being made to link the recovered mobile phones with concerned case and to trace their possible involvements in other cases also.
