Under Operation Sajag, a continuing drive of North-West District for containment of crime & criminals and to dominate the streets so as to reduce street crimes as well as to instill confidence & sense of security among citizens, a notorious snatcher nabbed by the staff of PS Model Town.
Under this drive, alert patrolling staff and special pickets were deployed for intensive checking and during this exercise, a major breakthrough was achieved whereby staff of PS Model Town nabbed a notorious snatcher and recovered one stolen motorcycle used in commission of crime & one button actuated knife from his possession. Accused is a habitual criminal & active snatcher (BC of PS Bharat Nagar) and found to be previously involved in 47 cases of snatching, theft, arms act & Delhi excise act.
On 18.01.22, complainant Shashi Rajoria w/o Pradeep Rajoria along with her husband was going back to her maternal uncle’s house in a battery rickshaw. When their rickshaw reached near Azadpur, one black colour motorcycle suddenly came closer to them and the person riding the bike snatched her mobile phone from her hand and ran away towards Azadpur. The husband of the complainant Mr Pardeep shouted out loudly for help. Ct. Santosh and Ct. Prem of PS Model town were performing patrolling duty on MPV in the area, heard their voice and chased the black motorcycle rider. They acted swiftly and nabbed the snatcher along with his bike. Meanwhile the complainant also reached there. She recognized the snatcher and stated that he is the same person who snatched her mobile phone make Samsung royal blue color from her hand. While frisking, one button actuated knife was also found in his possession. On enquiry, he disclosed his identity as Abhishek @ Itwari @ Hwari S/o Bankey R/o A 188, Rana partap Bagh, Sangam Park, Delhi (Age-22 yrs). On verification of motorcycle no. DL8S BX 2155, it was found stolen vide eFIR No. 0256/2022 u/s 379 IPC, PS Subzi Mandi, Delhi.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 116/22 U/s 356/379/34 IPC & 25/54/59 Arms Act was registered at PS Model Town and investigation was taken up.
During his sustained interrogation, he disclosed his involvement in the instant snatching case and further confessed to committing snatchings in the area. He is a habitual criminal & active snatcher (BC of PS Bharat Nagar) and was found to be previously involved in 47 cases of snatching, theft, arms act & Delhi excise act.
Further efforts are being made to trace his possible involvements in other cases also.
