New Delhi: Keeping in view, the regular directions of senior officers regarding checking the menace of criminals and to curb street crime, police presence has been increased in the Beat area of PS Sadar Bazar by regular area patrolling and conducting random picket checking during odd hours to surprise the criminals. PS Sadar Bazar staff has also been directed for maximum use of ROKO-TOKO strategy of Delhi Police.
On 25.02.2022, SI Vikash Rathi, Ct Sandeep Bali and Ct Sanjay were patrolling in the area, under the leadership of SI Sachin Kumar Verma (I/c PP Ahata Kidara), close supervision of Inspr. Kanhaiya Lal Yadav, SHO/PS Sadar Bazar and guidance of Ms Pragya Anand, ACP Sadar Bazar, Delhi.
During patrolling at about 09:30 PM, when the above said police team reached in Gali Tyre Market, Pahari Dheeraj, Sadar Bazar, they noticed one person in suspicious condition who suddenly started moving away in fast steps on seeing the police team, which enhanced the suspicion of police team. The patrolling team instantly swung into action and ultimately apprehended the suspect after some chase.
The suspected person could not reply about his sudden movement and tried to mislead the police team. On his cursory search, a button operated Knife was recovered from his possession. The accused was identified as Mohd. Kashif @ Lambu Karim, age- 38 years.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 220/22, dated 26.02.2022, u/s 25/54/59 Arms Act was registered at PS Sadar Bazar and investigation was taken up.
During interrogation, the accused Mohd. Kashif @ Lambu Karim disclosed that he purchased the recovered knife from Nabi Karim market about 02 months ago and was using the same in committing crime. It further revealed that the accused is a habitual criminal with the history of involvements in 15 cases including Murder, Attempt to Murder, Robbery, Snatching and Arms Act etc registered at different police stations of Delhi. He has also been identified as an active BC of PS Bara Hindu Rao. He was released from jail in the month of October, 2021.
The accused is school dropout and has studied up to 4th standard only and a drug addict. He used to drive cab/taxi on rented basis but due to insufficient income he started committing crime to earn easy money and fulfil his lust of drugs.
